My story
Music has always been one of the things that helped me the most.
About me
My name is Alessio, but most people know me as Jay Ladder. I am a music producer, DJ, and content creator, and I am fully blind.
I was born in 2008 with a rare form of glaucoma, which caused me to lose my sight gradually. When I was little, I could still see something, such as colors, shapes, light, and shadows. Over time, due to complications, my sight became worse in both eyes, until I eventually lost it completely.
Even though this has been a big part of my life, I have never wanted it to define everything about me. There were difficult moments, and there still are, but music has always been one of the things that helped me the most. During the toughest periods of my life, music felt like a friend, a companion, and a place where I could feel understood.
For me, music has never been only about sound. It has always been a way to express emotions, tell stories, share feelings, and connect people together. Sometimes words are not enough, but a melody, a rhythm, or a drop can say what is difficult to explain.
As a blind producer and DJ, I have had to face many accessibility barriers, especially with today's music software and tools. Many programs are still not fully accessible, and sometimes even simple things can become complicated. But instead of giving up, I have always tried to find ways around those limits. I enjoy the challenge of learning, adapting, and proving to myself that my goals are still possible.
I love producing music, DJing, and exploring different sounds. I listen to many genres, and I like bringing different influences into what I create. I do not want to stay in one box. I always try to challenge myself, experiment, and make something new every time.
Jay Ladder is more than just a name for me. It represents growth, determination, and the idea of climbing step by step, no matter how difficult the road can be. Through my music, I want to share energy, emotion, and a part of my story with the people who listen.
